How to Complete a Processing Session
Updated over a week ago

Step 1: Click Flow Space on Menu

For a full list of your Daily processing sessions, hit the third button from the left on the bottom, that looks like a square with two waves for your “daily flow sessions”. You’ll see the list of all your sessions you can choose.

Step 2: Choose a Session to Begin Procession

Start by selecting one of the 6 available sessions in Recess. We recommend that you do your daily recess check in and set your intentions, and based on your scores in your intentions, our proprietary flow algorithm will suggest the best session for you to reach flow state.

Here is the list of available sessions:

1. Mini Session: 2 minute session to help you get familiar with Recess’ bilateral processing
2. Peace: decrease stress
3. Purpose: increase productivity
4. Presence: increase focus
5. Potential: feel capable
6. Daily Care Reset: for those working to decrease the stress and secondary trauma in the helping professions, like mental health workers, nurses, and leaders

Step 3: Getting Ready to Transition into Augmented Reality

Once you’ve selected your session, you’ll see a brief video, and then click “enter Flow Zone”. After that, you’ll hear a brief set of instructions, to rotate your phone horizontally, set your phone down at eye level or an arms length away, and get ready to process.

Once you click the “Enter Flow Zone” button again, you’ll hear another introduction encouraging you to get your headphones, rotate your phone horizontally, and get comfortable.

Step 4: Introduction & Pre Scoring

You’ll hear another introduction that’s specific to the processing session you picked. Depending on the session you picked, they will each ask you to provide an initial rating for what you’re working on from 1-10, where 1 is not at all, and 10 is the most (for instance, how stressed you feel or how productive you feel).

Provide your rating, and then click continue. You’ll be asked to rate the same question again after the flow session, in order to track your progress.

Step 5: Session Start

Now you’re fully into the processing session! On the top middle, you’ll see the countdown clock for the session. You’ll see the ball moving left to right and the countdown clock decreasing at the top. Continue to follow the ball left and right, listen to the guided prompts, and complete your processing session.

Step 6: Session End Scoring

Once you’re done, you’ll be asked to rate yourself again depending on the session from 1 to 10. If you’ve made improvements, Recess will end your session. If you haven’t made any improvements, recess will suggest you repeat the session.

So that’s it! We hope that makes processing with Recess super clear. We’d encourage you to take advantage of Recess, do your daily check in, and process twice per day, ideally once in the beginning of the day, and once near the end to best regulate your nervous system.
